Sigsten Stieglitz (He/Him)

is a PhD student in the Affirm Project, focusing on Genetics and Trans Health. Through his master’s degree in Public Health, he gained multifaceted knowledge in areas like epidemiology and population health by studying the effects of stigmatization and discrimination on minorities. Thus, he is especially interested in identifying biological factors that might help to achieve individual-centered care and improve the overall experience of gender-affirming hormone treatment.   

Nessa Millet (She/ Her)

Nessa Millet (She/ Her)

is a health psychology Postdoctoral Researcher in the team. She researches how people make meaning of their healthcare experiences. She completed her PhD in 2022, prior to which she worked as a clinical research assistant at the Nottinghamshire Centre for Transgender Health, UK. Nessa leads the qualitative methods and particpatory research studies of the AFFIRM project. Most recently, she has worked on: comparing access to gender affirming medical care across Europe, exploring the changes people experience in their wellbeing and relationshps when they start hormone therapy, alongside ways to elevate community insights during study design phases.

is a critical health geographer who researches the relationships between healthcare systems and social inequalities. They are currently a Leverhulme Research Fellow in the School of Geography, Queen Mary University of London.

Is a professor at the Amsterdam UMC. Her research interests include: Evaluation of care and gender identity development.

Guendalina Di Luigi (She/Her)

is an intern from Sapienza University of Rome, who recently completed her masters in Dynamic Developmental Psychopathology. She is currently researching how trans people feel affirmed by others.

Petr Supa (He/Him)

Petr Supa (He/Him)

Petr Šupa (he/him) is an intern and research assistant from Radboud University in Nijmegen, studying Behavioral and Cognitive (Neuro)science. He enjoys working with people just as much as with data, and he’s driven by the ambition to connect brain and behaviour, while figuring out how what happens inside of us links up with the many worlds we belong to around us.

Loena Stern (She/Her)

Loena Stern (She/Her)

Loena is a student Natural and Social Sciences and is completing her Bachelor’s Degree with a research internship at AFFIRM Relationships. After a foundation in natural and social sciences, she specialized in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Neurobiology. She also explored the field of Sexology and conducted several interdisciplinary research projects. The upcoming months she will investigate the dose-response relation between feminizing (gender affirming) hormone therapy and depressed mood.
